While the shifting of files to the CBI itself was worrying and them landing in Mumbai as if in the next available flight was painful, the drug investigating NCI and ED appearing together was as demoralizing as the landing of Army, Navy, and Airforce at once. And when the infallible god, What’s app’ texts, came in the hands of the new kids in town, Bollywood biggies could see coronavirus coming to their local street. A sense of 'we all are doomed' prevailed. That could be in their minds but their plans didn’t cease to come out. Like energy, it just changed from one to another. With Rhea getting an organized comfort in the ride, protection, and legal help, not to mention the chats with big shots – even in practice, it looked more like a clash of ideologies in a collective way rather than an issue of individual death. Yes, Bollywood would not just take the beatings alone. They fought back too. Proving all that and dividing media itself into camps, Rhea was made to give a well-rehearsed series of interviews with some selected media. Yes, that only proved to be a stage-managed plot but it also showed a divided media and India. Their defense possibly was strong on the death side, but the NCB tracing the drug habits of the industry's people was not quite expected. And What’s app was still dangerous. Thus, as if it was a race to reach the top Google search placement, even kings unrelated to the sinister death were getting link backs from those chats. Although, Bollywood was powerful, almost like Ravana’s naval its drugs, prostitution and underground dealings that were its staple diet would also be its weakest links. With international pressure forcing Pakistan to lessen terror and drug agents enough to air the home of their hidden Karachi man the drug guys were going through bad days anyway. The arrival of the enemy through that weakest link was essentially a back door entrance It almost reminded one of Rhea’s back door exit. Thus, far from remaining the united untouchable group, now they suddenly became individual lawbreakers fighting for themselves. And the guy’s calling the shots now were not from the bullied Bihar but from the CBI, ED, and the NCB. Yes, the furore in Bollywood was understandable but the weakness it was heading towards wasn’t. For example, though beans are just beans, like a reaction eroding molecular co-valence; as a ‘will spill the beans’ it also erodes ‘buddy-valance’. Also, revolutions usually spread from villages to cities. Thus, as if they were Charlie Chaplin in City Lights, junior druggie associates with links to biggies in Bollywood would now face the ‘I don’t know him’. Almost like the ‘touch me not’ of covid19, this not so saintly detachment itself is going to make the cohesive power of Bollywood crippled. Strangely, a sleepy Sushant has given sleepless nights to them! The politicians & police, who enjoyed with them or just protected and exchanged links with them aren't feeling sleepy either. As if to offer a balance, with breaking news not being easy, media staff aren’t sleeping either. They are even panting while covering late events. Being well trained, leaving the difficult and bailable warrant ones to the climax but relying on the easy non-bailable drug suspects, smart investigators are getting clues from the deepest recess of Bollywood. However, the tentacles predicted here are yet to reach the prostitution and the underground nexus. But, it surely is leading to those. Mumbai police and the state government could easily become the next in the hit list. Like the reopening of the connected and finished Disha’s case by the probing agencies, media is geared up to take the very much delayed sadhu lynching case and the Sunanda’s case. Almost like the new normalcy because of the coronavirus lockdown, an endlessly busy media would show new normalcy of continuous coverage. Like ‘Quit India’ slogan a ‘Quit Bollywood’ seems to be on. With debauchery not leaving even the mighty Roman Empire an empire anymore, blissful Bollywood doesn’t look safe. When it truly comes down through this revolution, when many of its powerful find themselves get caught by the law and the need of Bollywood brings in new and talented artists- who had no recourse earlier - surely it will bring major changes. Yes, the dream world will re-emerge from ground zero but with India having reach storylines fed by its history/mythology, and dedicated talents all over in its billions the copycat Bollywood could change to Indian Cinema. This could easily beat the name changes of Bombay, Madras, and Calcutta. With finance being legal, stories being original, technology being the latest, and the actors being talented international awards will not be distant and the country’s pride will not look diminished. The tentacles of this revolution are so penetrative that if honest, it will not limit itself to the Mumbai dream world or the case mishandling police department, politicians will not be safe either. With the latter having a national connection, the implication will be all over India. Also, while Pakistan travel enjoying invitees could have problems, those involved in underground agencies that deal with doping, finance, and anti-India activities will not be spared by the revolution. As if tracing Atom Bomb’s chain reaction one clue leading to another will engulf other film cities too - as they have the same affliction. The simple fact about this revolution is that it may not be large, to begin with, but it is made large by the crimes that it confronts; and that is present in many cities of India. Although, revolutions are generally against the governments; far from weakening the government this revolution will make it stronger. But then, it is the coronavirus aided by federalism that is making the government weak and helpless. But that is the title of an up-coming write-up.
